James Windle - Author of ' User Acceptance Testing - A Practical Approach
James Windle worked for a Software House for several years after graduating with a Degree in Electrical Engi-neering. In 1983 he founded Firesoft, an IT consultancy initially specialising in business analysis. He came to realise that testing was the weak link in the IT system development process - unsystematic, under resourced and inefficient. Work-ing with an acceptance test team on a large Customs & Excise project, James developed a simple defect management tool and has concentrated on testing ever since. On subsequent projects for corporate clients in the financial, insurance and industrial sectors he and his colleagues in Firesoft refined the method for planning, designing and con-ducting User Acceptance Testsin a systematic fashion now known as the 'Accept' process. A tool was devel-oped as the repository for the necessary documentation and clients were taught to apply the method to their systems. His book, "User Acceptance Testing - A Practical Approach" is a step-by-step distillation of James's experiences with Acceptance Testing in a variety of industry sectors.
